Matthew 2:1-12, Isaiah 60: 1-6
The Wise Ones

At the beginning of our service we explored the Matthew passage:

recognizing how some of the story has changed, stretched, and, sometimes, lost it's truth.

How many Magi are listed? (There's no '3' in Magi)

When did they arrive (they had to travel a long way -- it's possible that it took over a year)

Why was Herod so threatened?

Was there a hidden meaning in the gifts they offered? Or have we used those gifts to help ourselves connect the story to now?

So much to think about.

Why is it important to have this part of the story? Is it to teach us to be aware of God, be aware of Evil, to make the right choices? What do you think?
