Looking for God. Living for God

The texts to choose from this week are:

  • Haggai 1:15b—2:9
  • Psalm 145:1–5, 17–21
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:1–5, 13–17
  • Luke 20:27–38

A common thread in all four texts is that the people of God are to find their identity not in the present world around them, but instead in God.

What does that mean for us today? Does it mean that the world around us isn't bringing out our best? Are we becoming less likely to stop and think "What Would Jesus do?" before we act or speak? Are we forgetting that being faithful requires not only our hearts, but our voices and our actions?

What would God have us do?
