God's Favourites

Today is Trinity Sunday, a day when we often explore the Triune aspect of God... Creator, Teacher, Spirit. But today, in the aftermath of a series of experiences and cultural awareness happenings in the world we go in a slightly different direction.

June is Pride Month and Indigenous History month and it appears that it is a month that will challenge all of us to see how we live a faith of love in society.

In Minneapolis, U.S. George Floyd, a black man,  was killed by on Police Officer while three others looked on. Chantal Moore, an Indigenous Woman was shot by police in New Brunswick, Canada on a Wellness Check, in Edmonton, Alberta a young black man was called the 'n' word as he politely did his job. In Calgary, Alberta the most strigent "Conversion Therapy" by-law in Canada was passed -- but not without push back from people who believe being LGBTQ+ is sinful.

We can't stand by and say and do nothing.

Our creation story tells us that God made all of humanity in God's own image. But it also tells us that everything is good and has a place in the world that needs to be respected.

God doesn't play favourites. God loves all things. Why can't we do that?
