Jeremiah 32:1-3, 6-15: Luke 16:19-31 Common English Bible (CEB);
Faith in Focus? Focused on God

On this Sunday, we were reminded that being disciples of Christ challenges us to place our hope and trust in God. But how do we know that God is trustworthy? -- Ah... the inquisitive minds of people always have questions.

The stories of the prophets, the disciples and of Jesus teach us of God's ever present love in the best and worst moments of life. Who are the prophets we are listening to? Who are the prophets we don't want to hear?

These are the stories that, if we listen well and hear with wisdom, will shape us into the best God knows we can be in the world.

Scripture readings

  • Jeremiah 32:1-3,6-15 -- God points us to the future, promising that there will be one even when we don't see it.
  • Luke 16:19-31 -- challenging our sense of privilege... where do we offer mercy and comfort to God's people. How many ways must God speak to us before we will listen?
